The Leader+ programme ends in December 2008 and the majority of WARR’s Leader+ funding has therefore already been allocated. However, in order to ensure any underspend from current projects can continue to be re-allocated to new projects quickly, a Small Grants Fund has been set up, through which funding is still available. Projects seeking a maximum grant of £10,000 (preference will be given to requests for under £5,000), which meet the standard Leader+ criteria (see below), and can complete their spend between 1 January and 30 September 2008, are urged to contact the team as soon as possible.
Leader+ Aims and Objectives
Our overall aim is:
“To create a balance between maintaining the exceptional natural Environment and achieving sustainable economic growth.
The key strategic objectives are:
- To assist the development of the rural economy in a way that makes best use of its natural and cultural resources;
- To provide opportunities for young people and those that have been affected by rural restructuring that will encourage them to remain and participate in the local rural economy.
- The two themes chosen by the WARR Partnership are:
- Adding Value to Local Products
- Making the Best Use of Natural and Cultural Resources
- Who should benefit?
- Young people, and
- rural businesses and workers affected by restructuring, are the principal target groups within these themes
