BUILDING INSTRUCTIONS – ADVANCED MODEL.
This Model is more difficult to make than the basic one, it’s a bit fiddly and demands great care, patience and very accurate scoring, cutting, folding and assembly. You need the same printed sheets for the body and the mudguards and you also need the extra ‘Advanced Body Parts’.
1. Print the nets on to card, as before. 2. Score all the ‘folding lines’. 3. Very CAREFULLY cut out the FRONT SIDE WINDOW sections. (You really need a scalpel or sharp craft knife for this). 4. Cut out the net. 5. Pre-fold all the tabs. 6. Carefully glue the tabs and fix, one at a time as before. 7. Do NOT glue the body to the base at this stage. 8. Score and cut out the ‘Driver’s Cabin Back and Sides’ piece. 9. Fold the sides FORWARD. (These include the thin cream strips either side of the window.) 10. Fold the tabs on the top and bottom of the back BACKWARDS. 11. Smear glue on the tabs and the back of the two sides and (quickly – before it dries) put in place, the two side sections aligned with the sides of the main body. 12. Score and cut out the ‘Driver’s Cabin ‘Front, Floor and Seat’ piece. 13. Fold the narrow strips on the sides of the windscreen FORWARD, fold all the tabs BACKWARDS. 14. Smear glue on the inside of the windscreen and the two narrow strips and (again, quickly) put carefully in place. 15. Now put glue on all the tabs and slide the piece into place – the floor in line with the (horizontal) sloping part of the main body, the seat front in line with the (vertical) sloping part, the seat base horizontally along the line and the backrest covering part of the window. The open base will allow you to position the piece correctly. 16. You might like to make a small hole for a steering column – the column will be a cocktail stick. Cut out the two steering printed wheels and glue them ‘back to back’. You could glue a 17 mm. fibre washer to the top of the card wheel to form the steering wheel rim. 17. You can now glue the body to the MDF base, as before, and complete the model by fitting mudguards, wheels, etc.
